Lisa Helms grew up in Fossil, left the area to attend college and came back to the Condon/Fossil area to start a family in 2000. She worked for 8 years in juvenile justice and in 2008 took the job as an a/d and mental health therapist for Community Counseling Solutions. In addition to providing individual, family and group therapy for mental health clients and a/d clients, she’s certified to teach domestic violence and anger management courses. She also is a certified mental health investigator for Gilliam County as well as the county’s designated Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Specialist for DUII offenders. After taking the job with CCS, Lisa reports feeling as though she is “where she’s meant to be.” She is active in the community and helped pioneer a grassroots suicide awareness group that continues to spread awareness around suicide prevention to her community. However, her first love is her two young boys and while she’s not working she loves spending time with them watching movies, doing projects, riding bikes, taking walks and living life. She also loves hanging out with friends and family and believes in living life to the fullest.
